A Table for All : Collective Insights from My Experience at Qrious Creative

Writing this piece, I reflect on the past four months spent in the industry—a path I chose somewhat whimsically after my 12th grade, driven by a singular motive: to express creatively. At Qrious Creative, I not only delved into the intricacies of agency operations but also experienced the unique charm of working in a close-knit organization, something often absent in larger settings.

From crafting a simple graphic to devising an entire SEO strategy for a podcast series, the transparency of feedback and the open discussions on viability struck me as refreshing. Having previously worked with large-scale brands where feedback is influenced by numerous factors beyond pure creativity, this candid environment was a welcome change. Starting with basic intern tasks, I gradually took on more responsibilities based not only on my performance but also on my resilience and positive attitude.

Understanding the field of videography was not just interesting but also a valuable learning experience, allowing me to transition from still to moving images. I learned everything from the basics of planning and video production to editing and incorporating feedback from both self-assessments and clients. The realization that every small support—or the lack thereof—impacted the final quality of output was a core lesson I took away from this experience.

Qrious, with its open approach and absence of closed doors, taught me the importance of asking questions, no matter how trivial they seemed. As long as they stemmed from genuine curiosity and a desire to expand my knowledge, I was encouraged to ask freely. In this small-scale organization, I also learned to manage and prioritize tasks amidst multiple ongoing projects and to utilize my time effectively during quieter periods.

During these downtimes, my interest in campaign conception blossomed into an obsession, nurtured by opportunities from my seniors to create and pitch campaign decks. Understanding human insights unexpectedly aligned with my love for writing, helping me form a vision for my future in creative communication. This sense of purpose drove me to continually create new works to present and pitch.

At Qrious, it wasn’t just the work that excited me but also the human interactions. From Mr. Bean episodes sparking conversations about timeless content consumption to quiz nights at Watson’s, where bizarre questions and answers were celebrated with rounds of pool and beer, the camaraderie was unparalleled.

As I conclude this snippet of the myriad lessons I learned and unlearned at Qrious, I am still navigating my place in this world. However, one thing is certain: I am much more "qrious" than before I entered the cozy, café-like office where coffee fuels our creativity, and the evening sun at 4:30 pm perfectly illuminates the glazed windows. From the meticulous stacking of lunch boxes to Max’s visits that demand endless butt-scratches, I look forward to more growth and learning.

Until next time, Qrious. Take care.
